Ms. Battersby Black has served in a number of leadership roles with both the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Women's Bar Association of Illinois. She also helped establish the Illinois Trial Lawyers Women’s Caucus, where she served as inaugural chair. She is an active member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, the Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations and the American Association for Justice, among her other professional affiliations.

Outside her legal practice, Ms. Battersby Black works hard to support the advancement of women in the legal profession, and she has written extensively and conducted lectures and continuing legal education seminars across her region on a variety of legal topics. In recognition for her outstanding contributions to her field, she received the Outstanding Young Alumna of the Year award from Chicago-Kent Law School in 2015.
